Salary Disclosure Law Goes Into Effect Nov. 1, 2022

Mon 31 October 2022 News & Press

Starting November 1st, 2022, employers who advertise for open positions in their companies that could be performed in New York City will be required to include the salary/wage ranges in their job descriptions under the Salary Disclosure Law. As an addition to New York City’s Human Rights Law, those who fail to comply could be subjected to civil penalties and even face civil lawsuits by current employees.

The new law, referred to as the Salary Disclosure Law, is both very nuanced in its requirements and subject to further regulations and interpretation. This means that employers should prepare now for its implementation and keep up-to-date on its developments.
