Hon. Nelson E. Canter Honored by Town of Harrison for Distinguished Public Service

On March 20, 2025, Hon. Nelson E. Canter, who chairs the Firm’s Insurance Subrogation Group and co-chairs the Litigation Practice Group, was honored by the Town Board of the Town of Harrison.

At the Town Board Meeting, the Mayor of Harrison presented Judge Canter with a Proclamation thanking him for his many years of dedicated service to the Town of Harrison.  Judge Canter was elected to a 4-year term as Town Justice in 2011 where he presided over civil and criminal cases within the court’s jurisdiction from 2012 through 2015.Upon completion of his Term in 2015, Judge Canter served an additional 8 years as Deputy Town Attorney where he coordinated risk management, civil litigation, handled environmental issues and prosecuted and defended subrogation claims involving the Town.

Judge Canter is a Life Member of the Purchase Fire Department where he has been an active Member since 1979.  Judge Canter is a former Captain and Asst. Chief and serves on the Department’s Board of Directors.

Judge Canter’s practice concentrates on complex civil litigation and protecting the property subrogation interests of domestic and foreign insurance carriers throughout the United States. He is admitted in NY, NJ, CT and FL.
