Former New York State Attorney General and Longtime State Assembly and City Council Official G. Oliver Koppell Joins McLaughlin & Stern as Partner with His Associates

New York, NY — March 16, 2026 — McLaughlin & Stern, LLP today announced that G. Oliver Koppell, former Attorney General of the State of New York and longtime public official in both the New York State Assembly and the New York City Council, has joined the firm as a Partner, along with his associates Daniel F. Shreck and Scott Doherty, who also join the firm as Partners.

Mr. Koppell has built a distinguished legal career spanning decades in public service and private practice. In addition to his extensive private practice experience, he served as Attorney General of the State of New York and as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee in the New York State Assembly. He also served for 12 years as a Member of the New York City Council. During his legislative tenure, he was the lead sponsor of diverse initiatives in broadening environmental protection, civil justice reform, public authority regulation, consumer protection, and disability rights.

Throughout his career, Mr. Koppell’s practice has focused on a broad range of civil matters, including employment discrimination, personal injury, consumer protection, medical malpractice, and other general civil litigation, appellate matters, and consumer class actions.
