Brickman Legal Opinion Wins Case in Canada

Mon 16 December 2019 News Releases

In Estate of Johann Rubin, an estate and guardianship case heard in the Superior Court of Ontario, Canada, John Brickman of the firm’s litigation department filed opinion letters on which the Toronto court relied for its findings regarding New York law. Brickman opined on the finality of orders entered by a New York court that had an impact in the Canadian lawsuit, and on the basis of Brickman’s opinion, the court found for the bank that engaged the firm to render its opinion.

Brickman, a former adjunct professor of law who regularly teaches lawyers’ Continuing Legal Education courses, also writes and has given expert testimony on the administration of jails and prisons, another area with which he is deeply familiar.
