Paul S, Sommer has been serving the needs of clients in the areas of estate administration and estate planning for over 35 years. He has extensive experience working with all the Surrogate Courts in the New York City metropolitan area and works closely with executors and trustees in the administration of estates and trusts, including probate proceedings, preparation of federal and New York State estate tax returns, collection and valuation of assets, responding to tax audits, post-mortem tax planning and the settlement of estates and trusts, including the final disposition of estate and trust assets. He uses this practical administration experience when drafting Wills and Trusts to implement estate plans that meet the personal, financial, and legal needs of his clients in as tax efficient a manner as possible, while also appreciating the clients’ desire to maintain a simple and practical approach.
Mr. Sommer received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany, graduating magna cum laude, and his J.D. from St. John’s University Law School where he received the American Jurisprudence Award for estate planning.
Prior to joining McLaughlin & Stern, Paul was an attorney with Weinberger Singer P.C. for almost thirty years.
