Hollis F. Russell is a member of the firm and is primarily engaged in trusts and estates practice primarily in the firm’s New York and Florida offices and serves on the firm’s management committee. He received his B.A. from Princeton University and his J.D. from Cornell Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York and Florida.
Mr. Russell’s practice focuses on estate planning, and estate and trust administration, as well as taxation and charitable giving and foundation matters, including international estate planning. He has substantial expertise in wealth transfer planning involving partnership and trust arrangements for investment and other property interests and for business owners. In addition, Mr. Russell’s practice involves probate and fiduciary disputes, and he regularly advises clients in multi-jurisdictional matters – in particular, matters involving both New York and Florida, including residence and domicile relocation. He has delivered numerous law journal articles and lectures in the field and served on a range of bar association committees, and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer (New York) and as Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates (Florida). Mr. Russell has also served as an adjunct professor of law in the LLM, Estate Planning Program at the University of Miami School of Law. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel and currently serves on its Business Planning Committee and Employee Benefits Committee (and formally served on it’s committees for professional responsibility, and for international estate planning). Mr. Russell currently serves as Chair of the North Shore Land Alliance and is a Trustee of the William and Joyce O’Neil Charitable Trust. Mr. Russell has also served over the years as a board member of various other charitable organizations, including the United States International Tennis Club, Inc. (USIC), and the Palm Beach Area Tennis Patrons, Inc. (First Serve). He is an avid golfer and tennis player, and has served as captain of several USIC international senior tennis teams.
