Mclaughlin & Stern Partner Valentina Shaknes Named a “2017 Trailblazer” In Divorce, Trusts & Estates By The National Law Journal
New York, May 22, 2017 – McLaughlin & Stern is pleased to announce that its Partner Valentina Shaknes has been named a 2017 “Trailblazer” in Divorce, Trusts & Estates by The National Law Journal, which recognizes individuals in the legal industry who continue to make their mark on family law and trusts & estates.
Ms. Shaknes was selected from a competitive field of nominees, all of whom have “changed the practice in their respective fields through innovative and exceptional legal strategies.” The supplement, which includes individualized profiles of all the honorees, is available in The National Law Journal’s May 1 edition.
Ms. Shaknes concentrates her practice exclusively in the areas of matrimonial and family law, in which she has significant experience obtaining favorable results for her clients through negotiated settlements and, when necessary, litigation. She has successfully litigated complex matters in both Supreme and Family Courts in New York, Kings, Nassau and Westchester Counties, and has appeared before the appellate courts for the First and Second Judicial Departments. She also successfully litigated international child custody and international child abduction disputes, including proceedings in federal court under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. A recent Hague Convention case, Davies v. Davies, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, resulted in a victory that received coverage in the New York Law Journal, Bloomberg and WBAI-FM.
The 2017 Trailblazer honor recognizes the notable achievements of outstanding attorneys across eight categories, including Divorce, Trusts & Estates, Energy & Environmental, Intellectual Property, Plaintiffs’ Attorneys, Elite Boutiques, M&A and Antitrust, Cyber Security, and Litigation.
