Lichy Law Firm Merges into McLaughlin & Stern
Abraham Lichy Joins the Firm as Partner, Will Chair Its Newly Established Intellectual Property Practice Group That Will Focus on Serving the Tech, Entertainment, Fashion and E-Commerce Industries
The Lichy Law Firm has announced it has merged into McLaughlin & Stern. As part of the merger, Abraham Lichy has joined McLaughlin & Stern as a Partner and will chair the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Mr. Lichy’s practice focuses on representing brands, companies, celebrities and influencers in various endorsement and product deals and as general counsel.
Prior to joining McLaughlin & Stern, he was the Owner/Founder of The Lichy Law Firm in New York City, where he negotiated deals on behalf of the most well-known brands and some of the biggest influencers and celebrities in the world. He concentrated his practice on representing startups, website and mobile app developers, real estate firms, fashion and lifestyle brands, social media and lifestyle influencers and business owners trying to get their brands on the Amazon brand registry. He has a background in fashion and entertainment, having created his own fashion brand and performing as a DJ throughout the world.
In deciding to enter into the merger, Mr. Lichy said,
“We found a firm that was ideal for our practice. We joined McLaughlin & Stern because of the longstanding experience the firm has in a wide variety of practice areas and the ‘anti-firm’ philosophy which we subscribe to. They have an amazing roster of extremely talented lawyers and an impressive infrastructure which suited our intellectual property (IP) practice perfectly. Our practice frequently requires input from niche areas of the law which the firm can support, including hospitality, retail, entertainment and art. We bring the IP component to the table where a lot of the firm’s existing clients may need input on those types of issues.”
He is admitted to practice in the state of New York and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He has been ranked by Patexia as one of the top 1% of the trademark attorneys in the U.S. (top 25 out of more than 33,000 attorneys).
Mr. Lichy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
Also joining Mr. Lichy at the firm will be Danit Halberstein, who will be the firm’s new Associate. Ms. Halberstein will provide legal assistance to startups, including advising them on how they can efficiently and creatively build their business. She is admitted to practice in the states of New York and Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
