Mr. Leite is admitted to practice in New York and Brazil. He provides strategic legal advice on corporate law, securities, corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters.
His practice focuses on U.S. and international corporate law and capital markets. He has represented financial institutions (banks, investment advisers, and broker-dealers), hedge funds, private equity funds, publicly listed companies, single and multi-family offices, and high-net-worth individuals in their activities worldwide. Mr. Leite has experience in commercial transactions, particularly cross-border M&A, investment funds and financing transactions. He also represents clients before the SEC, including on matters related to disclosures, SEC examination and audit matters.
Mr. Leite also has experience coordinating internal investigations related to domestic and foreign corruption, money-laundering, securities, sanctions, insider trading, fraud, harassment, and other misconduct, as well as enforcement of disciplinary measures. Marcelo was a member of the investigation team of one of the world’s largest internal investigations and has conducted several others, including large cross-border investigations. The Legal 500 reference as being “singled out for his track record in internal investigations” (2023) and for “specialize in potential breaches of anti-corruption legislation and enforcement of disciplinary measures.” (2024)
Mr. Leite graduated with an LL.M. (Master of Laws) from Columbia Law School and an LL.B. (Bachelor of Law) from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul Law School, with an academic exchange at Lund University (Sweden), and attended a corporate law and governance course at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
