Practice Description
Mr. Reid is a partner in the restructuring and insolvency practice at the New York office of McLaughlin & Stern.  He concentrates his practice in workouts, financial restructurings, chapter 11 reorganizations, Securities Investor Protection Act proceedings, derivatives transactions and dispute resolution, structured finance and cross-border insolvency.  Mr. Reid provides advice on potential creditors’ rights/bankruptcy implications of corporate, derivatives, securitization and structured finance transactions, and counsels companies experiencing financial difficulty with respect to restructuring and bankruptcy strategies.  He advises clients concerning a wide range of creditors’ rights/bankruptcy issues including those relating to distressed acquisitions, executory contracts, debtor in possession financing, cash collateral, real estate, equipment financing, claims trading and chapter 15.  A significant portion of his practice has involved financially distressed companies in diverse commercial businesses, including those involved in retail, health care, manufacturing, insurance, the securities industry, real estate, energy and telecommunications.  He also prosecutes and defends avoidance litigation.  Mr. Reid has testified as an expert witness in the Cayman Islands on section 304 ancillary proceedings involving insurance companies.

Mr. Reid is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, INSOL, the New York State Bar Association and a steering committee member of the Barry Zaretsky Bankruptcy Roundtable at Brooklyn Law School. He is a former member of Committee on Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganizations and former Chair of its Derivatives Subcommittee, a former member of the Futures and Derivatives Committee of the New York City Bar Association, the former Chair of the Structured Finance Committee of the New York City Bar Association, former Chair of its Litigation and Restructuring Subcommittee and a member of its Opinions, Derivatives and Restructuring Subcommittees. Mr. Reid is a recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institute/St. John’s University Bankruptcy Mediation Program Certificate of Completion.

Education & Bar Admittance
Mr. Reid earned his B.A. from C.C.N.Y., his M.P.A. from New York University and his J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School.  He is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York; the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, and has appeared in bankruptcy courts, pro hac vice, throughout the country.
