John Brickman, head of litigation in the Firm's Long Island office, has been reappointed as a Commissioner of the New York State Legislative Ethics Commission by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. The Commission has jurisdiction over ethical issues affecting members of the New York State Senate and Assembly, as well as legislative employees. Brickman has served on the Commission since 2016.
Brickman's law practice concentrates in litigation and dispute resolution, with particular emphasis on corporate, commercial, trust and estate, real estate, and business cases. He regularly serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, and has been appointed as a referee and receiver in corporate and real estate disputes by courts throughout the downstate region. For years, he has taught Continuing Legal Education programs on lawyers' ethics.
