Biography

Prior to joining McLaughlin & Stern, LLP Jerome A. Scharoff managed his own firm, Jerome A. Scharoff, P.C. from 2004-2020 after working under some of the top matrimonial attorneys in the state. Mr. Scharoff has emerged as one of Long Island’s leading matrimonial lawyers and he is well liked and respected by Judges and Lawyers alike. Mr. Scharoff has handled complex cases in the areas of child custody, child support, and maintenance/alimony. In addition, he routinely handles cases involving sophisticated equitable distribution issues such as business valuations and pension/retirement issues. Further, Mr. Scharoff regularly represents clients in post-divorce litigation as well as drafting complex pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements.

"As an Attorney, I routinely try to think outside the box to come up with the most constructive and cost-effective approach to litigation. I never want a client to spend more in legal fees than the dollar amount they are fighting over. However, there are some areas that you cannot put a price tag on such as child custody matters. My goal for all of my clients is to get them through one of the most difficult times in their life with strong, dedicated representation."

Mr. Scharoff is a member of the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar Association as well as the Matrimonial Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Family Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. Further, he was named a Super Lawyer Rising Star in the 2012 as well as a Super Lawyer in 2015-2020 New York Metro edition of Super Lawyers Magazine. This award is bestowed upon no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state after a selection process involving in-depth research and peer nominations and reviews. In addition, in 2019 he was named a Top 100 Lawyer in the New York Metro edition of Super Lawyers.
