Jose G. Santiago, head of the firm's labor & employment group, represents management and employees in all matters related to labor and employment law. He practices in Federal and State courts. Mr. Santiago is fluent in English and Spanish.
Mr. Santiago received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his J.D. degree in 2004 from Fordham University School of Law, where he served as a member of the International Law Journal.
After law school, Mr. Santiago accepted an appointment as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County, New York, where he prosecuted hundreds of cases. He was tasked with conducting hearings and trials, and learned to handle litigation matters in and out of court. Since serving as a prosecutor, Mr. Santiago has dedicated his practice to counseling and litigation. He has years of experience representing management and employees in labor and employment matters such as employment discrimination in the workplace based on age, race, sex, color, religion, national origin, and sexual orientation; sexual harassment; retaliation and retaliatory discharge; wrongful termination; wage and hour litigation, including failure to pay overtime wages and other violations of wage and hour laws; reviewing non-compete agreements; whistleblower actions; and representing individuals and businesses before state and federal courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and New York State Division of Human Rights.
Mr. Santiago is active in several local and national organizations, including the American Bar Association – Labor & Employment Division, Hispanic National Bar Association, Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association – New York, New York State Bar Association – Labor and Employment Division, Suffolk County Bar Association – Labor and Employment Division, and the Young Latino Professionals of New York.
